This category covers pumps for transferring, draining, washing and spraying water: electric models at 12 V, 24 V and 230 V, hand pumps, and diaphragm pumps driven by a combustion engine or tractor. They are used for draining construction sites and excavations, for water supply in agriculture and in crop sprayers, in boats and vehicles, and for flushing and washing in maintenance.
The pump type is chosen according to the water and the application. A flexible impeller pump is self-priming and also handles fine sludge, a diaphragm pump with a pressure regulator is for washing and spraying, and a circulation pump is for heating and cooling circuits.A centrifugal pump is not self-priming, so it is installed below the liquid level so that it fills by itself (flooded suction). Then look at the flow rate in litres per minute and the head in metres. Spare impellers, pressure regulators and other spare parts have their own group.
Not all water pumps can withstand dry running or fuels, so choose a fuel pump for diesel and a chemical pump for corrosive liquids.
