Two pumps with different output rates can be connected to the valve. When the load pressure reaches the set level, the flow from the higher-capacity pump starts to go directly to the tank line. The power required to drive the pumps and their flow rate decrease.
At low pressures, a high flow rate is available, while at high pressures a lower flow rate is available with lower pump power demand.
The valve is used, for example, in presses where high speed is needed during the free stroke and high pressure with low speed during pressing. The valve has a built-in pressure relief valve that affects both lines.
